8 Days Away, Former Medan Mayor Dzulmi Eldin is Free from Prison

MEDAN, Waspada.co.id – Former Medan Mayor, Dzulmi Eldin, is rumored to be free from Tanjung Gusta Medan Correctional Institution (Lapas).

Kalapas Tanjung Gusta Medan, Maju Amintas Siburian said Dzulmi Eldin has served 2/3 of the prison term and has applied for Parole (PB) by paying a fine of IDR 500 million.

“Yes it is true that he is paroled, the plan is on February 28 this year. Later after the SK is authorized. This year, it is likely to be implemented on February 28,” Maju said, Monday (2/20).

He added, before being submitted to get parole, the Tanjung Gusta prison had seen all the requirements for Dzulmi Edin. After all the requirements and data are considered complete, the parole application can be submitted.

After Dzulmi Eldin pay off his obligations to pay fines for state losses and we see everything then we propose to get parole,” he concluded.

Previously, Dzulmi Eldin was tried at the Medan Corrupotion Court for receiving gifts or promises in the form of money from the Heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) totaling IDR 2,1 billion.

This case began during the Hand Capture Operation (OTT) concluded by the KPK . Eldin was also charged with committing a continuing act, receiving gifts or promises of receiving gifts in the form of money in stages.

In this case, the Head of Protocol Sub Division (Kasubag) of the General Section of the Regional Secretariat of the Medan City Government Samsul Fitri and also the Head of Medan Public Works Isa Anshari were involved . Samsul Fitri was sentenced to 4 years in prison with a fine of IDR 250 million in lieu of 2 months imprisonment for being Dzulmi Eldin’s messenger and Isa Ansyari himself was sentenced to 2 years in prison with a fine of IDR 200 million in lieu of 4 months imprisonment for giving bribes.

Meanwhile Dzulmi Eldin himself was found guilty of violating Article 12 letter a of Indonesian Law Number 31of 1999 and sentenced to 6 years in prison with a fine of IDR 500 million in lieu of 4 months in prison. Even Dzulmi Edun’s political rights were revoked for 4 years. (wol/yup)
